The ex voto are either in pure silver or silver plated. We believe this one is silver plated, but are not sure: it could be 925 silver!
The length is about 16cm, weight 15 gr.

| *An ex-voto is a votive offering to a saint or divinity. It was given in fulfillment of a vow (hence the Latin term, short for ex voto suscepto, "from the vow made") or in gratitude or devotion. Ex-votos are placed in churches or chapels where the worshiper seeks grace or wishes to give thanks. In Southern Italy they are a reproduction of a miraculously healed body part. The now alomst lost tradition of depositing ex-votos in Italy existed since Etruscan times ( 700 B.C.)! |  |
