A pleasant drive in nature to Valle d'Agrņ


From the Alcantara Valley we suggest a pleasant drive in wild nature on a paved road up a mountain reef and down to Valle d'Agrņ.

You start from the village of Graniti that you can reach from Etnalodge by:

  • Driving to Linguaglossa, continuing direction Randazzo (straight), after a few kilometers turn right to Castiglione, head to Francavilla and down towards Naxos. Make a left turn when you see the sign Graniti.
  • From Giardini Naxos take Autostrada ramp,  follow the direction Francavilla and take the firs right turn after Gaggi.

 

       

After a refreshing stop in the main Piazza of Gaggi

you drive up hill to Graniti. Keep going uphill on the only road that exits Graniti (a small paved road that is not even on the map!. Follow this narrow well paved road which will take you to Limera in the Valle d'Agrņ.

  

 

 

On the way you may leave the paved road for a stroll and admire the wilderness and the ruins

   

reached the top you will have a terrific view on Valle d'Agrņ

   

passed Limera you will see the Basilica dei SS Pietro e Paolo that can be visited....by asking for the keys to the guardian who is the owner of the small shop near the Cathedral!

 

Once in Valle d'Agrņ you have many choices. among them we recommend a stop in Savoca with the churche's crypt (open only on mornings) that exposes mummies and the bar that will certainly ring a bell to who has seen the file "The Godfather".

                       

 

An easy downhill drive and you are on the coast.
